Health, sustainability and animal welfare is at the heart of what we do.
We believe the answer to America’s health problems isn’t to stop eating beef entirely, but to eat better quality beef and less of it. No one needs to eat a steak the size of a hat. Smaller cuts of grass fed, pasture-raised beef is the answer. We don’t need to choose between self-denial and obesity. Our goal at Estancia is to be the middle way, the healthy way, and the better way.
At Estancia, long-term stewardship of the land and the planet is much more important than short-term profit. We believe biodynamic agriculture, solar power and proven traditions is the only way to produce healthy, delicious beef. Many of our employees were raised on farms, while others have degrees in environmental sciences. Sustainability isn’t a strategy to us, it’s a passion.
Our cattle live their entire lives grazing out in the open. If our pastures were measured, each of our animals would have two football fields of grazing space. They eat what they evolved to eat over thousands of years: fresh, high protein grass. They live as they evolved to live: wandering in open pasture. Our animals are transported quickly, safely and comfortably and comply with Dr. Temple Grandin’s recommendations. They suffer minimal stress, fear and discomfort throughout the entire process. We respect our animals and treat them with dignity right up until their last moment.
